Atlético Madrid vs Bayern Munich finished 0–2 at the Metropolitano on 3 November. Lennart Karl broke the deadlock in the 54th minute and Konrad Laimer added the second in the 74th, giving Bayern their first away win over Atlético. The Champions League league-phase match was goalless at half-time. See the Atlético Madrid–Bayern Munich match stats.
How Karl and Laimer scored
Atlético had chances to get ahead before the break. Julián Álvarez curled an effort wide, and Alexander Sørloth could not direct Marc Pubill’s cross on target. Bayern came out after half-time and pushed Atlético back. Joshua Kimmich drew a save from Jan Oblak before Karl took the ball off Robin Le Normand in the box and lifted his finish over the advancing goalkeeper.
The second goal came from another turnover, this time after Alphonso Davies took the ball off Marcos Llorente. Harry Kane found Laimer, who struck past Oblak from inside the area. UEFA named Laimer Player of the Match. Manuel Neuer kept a clean sheet on his 164th Champions League appearance.

Why Bayern’s press mattered
Both goals came before Atlético could reset their defence. Karl won the ball close enough to goal to finish the move himself. For the second, the regain gave Kane room to find Laimer before the home side recovered. UEFA counted 58 Bayern recoveries and 30 tackles, the most tackles by a team that night. Bayern’s 2–0 win ended a run of two league-phase draws, against Viking and Arsenal.
