Operational Focus Under Pressure at Maranello
Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has identified persistent external speculation as a critical disruption to the Scuderia's working environment, stating that an official team statement confirming faith in his leadership was "mandatory" to arrest destabilizing narratives.
The Scuderia's championship challenge against Mercedes has encountered friction following a five-race sequence without a podium finish. Against this performance deficit, reports in the Italian press linked Red Bull's Christian Horner to Maranello, prompting management to issue a formal vote of confidence ahead of the Grand Prix weekend at Sepang.
"When you see the noise and all the rumours in the press all the week, I think as a team we need to work in serenity, and it was absolutely not the case," Vasseur explained. "I think the statement was mandatory to do something, or it would have been the same this weekend. But honestly, the big issue that we have today is the stability, the serenity in the team, the focus that we need to have, and not to have this kind of question all the day."

Performance Decay and Structural Defense
Vasseur, who took the helm at Ferrari in 2023 and signed a multi-year extension last season, highlighted the necessity of absorbing external pressure on behalf of the engineering and operational staff during difficult cycles.
"What is sometimes a bit unfair is when you put someone under the bus, and I'm there also to defend my team, my guys," Vasseur added. "When we are winning, we are winning as a team, but when we are struggling, I'm there to defend all of them. I think it's the right attitude from everybody... but sometimes the attacks are a bit personal. It's not good."
Hamilton's Assessment and Internal Alignment
The dialogue surrounding Ferrari's operational load follows remarks from Lewis Hamilton, who defended Vasseur while raising questions regarding the broader organizational structure. Vasseur clarified that internal communication channels remain aligned with Ferrari Chairman John Elkann and Chief Executive Benedetto Vigna.
"The relationship that I have with my bosses, Benedetto and John, is a very good one," Vasseur noted. "We are in daily contact, and I can't complain at all about the organisation. But for sure, you always want to get more, you always want to do more, you always want to recruit more too... it has nothing to do with the organisation."
