Regarding Welbeck, Merson expressed concern over the striker's ability to maintain form without consistent playing time. He noted that at this stage of his career, Welbeck requires regular minutes to remain effective, a role that may be difficult to secure at Chelsea given the current depth in attacking positions.
On Henderson, Merson views the midfielder as a potential "closer" for the final stages of matches. He highlighted Chelsea's history of conceding late goals and suggested that Henderson’s experience could provide the necessary composure to protect leads and guide younger teammates during high-pressure periods.
Arsenal’s transfer priorities
Merson identified the left-wing position as a critical area for Arsenal following the departure of Leandro Trossard. He emphasized that the club must secure a high-caliber replacement, specifically citing Vinicius Jr and Bradley Barcola as essential targets. Discussing Manchester City, Merson questioned the tactical fit of Elliot Anderson alongside Rodri.
