Injury status and squad exclusion
Grealish has not featured in competitive action since January. The injury prevented his participation in the World Cup and has now resulted in his exclusion from the 28-man squad selected by manager Enzo Maresca for the 11-day tour. The squad includes a mix of senior players—such as Gianluigi Donnarumma, Phil Foden, and Josko Gvardiol—and youth prospects from the elite development squad.
Contractual and tactical context
Grealish enters the final 12 months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium. His future remains uncertain, with reports indicating no immediate offer of a contract extension. Manager Enzo Maresca has acknowledged the player's presence at the club but has not confirmed his role in the long-term tactical setup. The club is reportedly open to offers for both Grealish and Kalvin Phillips, the latter of whom also returns following an unsuccessful loan at Sheffield United.
