Adrian Newey has responded to Christian Horner's claim, made in the former team principal's autobiography Drive, that he wanted to abandon ship at Red Bull in 2014. Newey said Horner did not fully understand his frustration with Renault's power unit, which he argues showed no intent to fix its problems until Red Bull switched to Honda in 2019.

Kimi Antonelli beat Max Verstappen to pole position for the United States Grand Prix by 0.179 seconds. The Mercedes driver can seal a maiden F1 title on Sunday if he wins and other results go his way. Hamilton Africa GP dream keeps Ferrari driver pushing for a longer career
Lewis Hamilton says the prospect of a first African Grand Prix is pushing him to extend his Formula 1 career into the 2030s, when he would be 45. Formula 1 has a 10-year deal with Rwanda but no firm date for the race, and Amnesty International has called the agreement a sportswashing prize. Hamilton's Ferrari contract runs to at least the end of 2027, with an option for 2028.

Leclerc United States GP practice double sets up tight qualifying
Charles Leclerc completed a Friday practice double at the United States Grand Prix, leading FP2 in Austin by 0.042s from Kimi Antonelli.
