Martin Drury and the Huddersfield Blueprint
Martin Drury has stepped from the background into the technical area at Huddersfield Town, tasked with guiding his hometown club back toward the Championship. Appointed on a permanent two-year contract in May following an interim spell, Drury brings a decade-long coaching education spanning the Premier League, LaLiga, and the EFL.
From the Mestalla to the Bernabéu
Drury’s coaching trajectory accelerated during a high-profile stint as assistant to Carlos Corberan. After working together at West Brom in August 2024, Drury followed Corberan to Valencia in late December 2024, inheriting a squad sitting bottom of LaLiga. Over six months, the staff lifted the club toward the European qualification places, highlighted by a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Following his time in Spain, Drury joined Brentford as an assistant first-team coach under Keith Andrews in July 2025. His tenure in west London proved brief, ending by mutual agreement after three Premier League fixtures.

The Road to the Technical Area
After stepping away from football for the first time in over a decade, Drury returned to coaching in January 2026, joining Liam Manning’s staff at Huddersfield Town. When Manning took compassionate leave in late March, Drury and Jon Stead assumed leadership of the first team.
During his seven-game interim tenure, Huddersfield recorded two wins and four draws, ultimately missing the League One play-offs by eight points. The club board subsequently named him the permanent head coach on May 27.
