Liverpool Draw Chelsea in Carabao Cup Fourth Round Headline Clash
The draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup has paired Liverpool with Chelsea at Anfield, setting up a heavyweight encounter between two Premier League giants. The tie marks an immediate return to Merseyside for Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, who won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool during his playing career and was heavily linked with the managerial post before moving to Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool secured their place in the last 16 by eliminating Tottenham on Tuesday, while Chelsea earned their progress with a third-round victory over Leeds United. The clash at Anfield headlines a slate featuring up to six all-top-flight fixtures.
Arsenal Travel to Lowest-Ranked Fleetwood Town
Premier League champions Arsenal have been handed an away trip against League Two outfit Fleetwood Town, the lowest-ranked team remaining in the tournament. Fleetwood reached the fourth round after securing a third-round upset over Championship side Sheffield United.
Elsewhere in the draw, an all-League One encounter guarantees third-tier representation in the quarter-finals, as Bradford host Peterborough.
Key Matchups and Potential All-Premier League Clashes
The draw produced several all-Premier League pairings across the board:
- Everton vs Newcastle at Goodison Park
- Bournemouth vs Aston Villa at the Vitality Stadium
- Fulham vs Crystal Palace in a London derby at Craven Cottage
- Sunderland vs Brentford
- Manchester City or Norwich vs Brighton
Brighton advanced following a comeback victory away to Manchester United, and they will face either Manchester City or Norwich depending on the outcome of their third-round fixture.
Schedule and Next Fixtures
All eight fourth-round ties are scheduled to take place during the week commencing October 26.
