Max Verstappen Says F1 Is 'Less Stressful' Post-Horner as He Commits to Red Bull Rebuild

Reduced Inter-Team Tension and Paddock Dynamics

Max Verstappen has stated that the Formula 1 paddock operates under "less stressful" conditions following the departure of former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. The four-time world champion noted that the reduction in political friction between competing team bosses has created a more manageable working environment across race weekends.

Horner, who oversaw all four of Verstappen's championship campaigns, has recently been linked with potential leadership roles across the grid, publicly describing the prospect of leading Ferrari as a dream and citing unfinished business in the sport. When asked about Horner's prospects and a potential return to rivalries with Mercedes' Toto Wolff and McLaren's Zak Brown, Verstappen maintained an objective distance.

"To be honest, I like to see people get on. It is not nice when you constantly have tension between people," Verstappen told the Press Association. "It is not as spicy, but I obviously quite like how things are going at the moment with everyone's behaviour, let's put it like that. It is less stressful."

Addressing the speculation surrounding Horner's next move, Verstappen added: "He has shown he did a good job. Of course, people spread a lot of rumours and I don't know how much of that is true. I don't want to sound rude, but it is also not my problem or concern."

New Four-Year Contract and Rejection of Ferrari Nostalgia

Verstappen recently secured his immediate competitive future by signing a new four-year contract with Red Bull Racing, despite exploratory conversations with rival teams, including McLaren. The Dutchman dismissed speculation about pursuing an emotional transfer to Ferrari, emphasizing that technical performance outweighs brand prestige.

  • Performance over prestige: Verstappen rejected moving for heritage alone if the package yields only fifth- or sixth-place finishes.
  • Red Bull commitment: The Dutch driver defined the current technical rebuild of Red Bull's chassis and power unit program as his primary competitive motivation.
  • Career volume: With 72 career Grand Prix victories secured, operational stability remains his stated requirement for sustained competition.

"I only want to win. I am not a nostalgic type," Verstappen explained. "Do I have a lot of respect for the [Ferrari] brand? Absolutely. But if that means you then commit yourself, and you are driving P5 or P6, what's the point? I am very performance-driven, and I have won a lot with this team already. It is a second family at Red Bull, and the challenge of rebuilding is what's driving me."

Career Longevity and the Singapore Sprint Ahead

While competitors such as Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso have committed to driving beyond their 46th birthdays, the 29-year-old Verstappen confirmed he will not pursue an extended timeline if his commitment levels decline or family priorities take precedence.

"Staying here until then would mean I have dedicated more than half of my life to Formula 1, and that is probably a bit too much," Verstappen said. "I have extended for a few more years, and then I will look again and say to myself, 'can I commit 100 per cent?' If not, or there are other fun things around that deserves more time, then maybe I don't continue."

The Formula 1 paddock now transitions to the Marina Bay Street Circuit for the Singapore Grand Prix, marking the final Sprint weekend format of the current campaign.
