Vanessa Gold has agreed to sell her 25.1% stake in West Ham United to a consortium led by Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi. Agreement Reached for Minority Stake

Vanessa Gold has entered into a legally binding agreement to sell her family’s 25.1 per cent shareholding in West Ham United. The purchasing entity is a consortium led by Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi, in partnership with PCP Capital Partners and Ashland Forest Capital Partners.

The Pre-emption Process

The transaction is currently subject to a mandatory pre-emption rights process. This mechanism allows existing shareholders to acquire the stake in two distinct rounds. The club has indicated that this procedure will span approximately two months. During this interval, the current ownership structure and day-to-day operations of the club remain unchanged.

Context of the Sale

Vanessa Gold assumed the role of joint-chair following the death of her father, David Gold, in 2023. This agreement follows a previously unsuccessful attempt to sell a majority stake to the EP Group, led by Daniel Kretinsky, which failed to materialize after negotiations initiated on June 12. Amanda Staveley’s consortium brings experience from her tenure at Newcastle United, where she oversaw the club's transition from 2021 to 2024.

Operational Impact

West Ham United has confirmed that the ongoing sale process will not disrupt the club's preparations for the upcoming season. The team is scheduled to commence its campaign at Burnley on August 16. No further public commentary is expected from the involved parties until the legal pre-emption process concludes.
