Transfer Overview and Contractual Terms
Rangers have completed the acquisition of right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic from Aston Villa. The 20-year-old Serbian international joins the Scottish Premiership club on a season-long loan agreement containing a £4m conditional obligation to buy, which activates upon meeting specific appearance thresholds.
Rangers secured the deal ahead of competing suitors following direct discussions involving manager Derek McInnes and Serbian national teammate Vanja Dragojevic, who completed his own move to Ibrox earlier in the current transfer window.
Player Background and Positional Profile
Nedeljkovic transferred to Aston Villa from Red Star Belgrade in January 2024. During his tenure under contract with the Premier League side, the full-back recorded 10 first-team appearances, alongside an 18-month loan deployment at Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig.
"Kosta is an athletic and energetic full-back who is keen to get forward, but he also has a real desire to defend and compete and he will further strengthen a key area for us," said manager Derek McInnes regarding the tactical addition along the defensive flank.
Rangers Window Operations and Forward Targets
Nedeljkovic represents the 11th incoming senior registration for Rangers during the current summer window. The club's recruitment department continues operational work to secure additional offensive personnel prior to the Scottish transfer deadline on September 3.
- Target Profile (Wide Forward): Amario Cozier-Duberry (Brighton & Hove Albion)
- Target Profile (Central Forward): Kevin Kelsy (Portland Timbers)
Rangers remain positioned to finalize these attacking profiles before the registration window officially closes.
